Case study: BBC Children In Need

Last Children in Need we were tasked with producing an 11-hour live stream with Joe Wicks for the BBC.

What started out as a simple Insta Live from a phone, became a four-camera, non-stop broadcast in partnership with Tell York, with celebrity guests joining Joe on laps of Media City in Manchester, visits to the Blue Peter studio, outdoor challenges and much more.
The event raised over £500,000 and footage from the stream featured on the BBC Children in Need Appeal Show.

With remote cameras, tonnes of videos and graphics to play out, BBC feeds to take and a very flexible schedule, it was an incredibly complicated task to pull together. We worked out of the Media City BBC offers with a fly-away setup that worked perfectly all day.

The project was delivered in partnership with the fantastic team at Behind the Scenes who made the day run smoothly and made our lives a lot easier.
